Claremont Isles is truely one of the most amazing fly fishing destinations in Australia, having pristine sand flats running for miles. Species such as Permit, GT's, Queenfish and BB's are all possible along the sand cays that make up Claremont Isles. Guests will take a charter flight from Cairns to Lockhart river where we will meet and take the 55 mile journey down the coast before the action begins. Claremont Isles is situated between the main land and the outer reef so it is a short relocation if you would like to throw fly's at reef thugs such as Red Bass and Coral Trout along the flats of the Great Barrier Reef, or go inland to fish the large coastal rivers that are home to some unreal Barramundi and Threadfin Salmon.

Our fly fishing season starts in January and finishes up in February, these months although are our cyclone season, bring great glass off weather conditions. Travel insurance is highly recommended. All our scheduled trips are on our calendar.

departures

Claremont Isles is roughly a 55 mile steam down from Lockhart River boat ramp. Guests will take a 2 hour regional flight to the indigenous community of Lockhart River were we will have a transfer waiting for you to be brought to the boat ramp. We will set off that night and have us anchored behind the sand cays ready for the next day. We will then return the night before your flight out, were you will stay on board and be transferred back to the air strip the day of your flight .

Mother boat

For our live aboard Claremont Isles trips, we team up with the guys from "Topwater Sportfishing Charters" to use their custom built 45 foot game boat "KIAMA". Sleeping 4 guests in air-conditioned comfort, including all the creature comforts onboard with a 5 star chef. We also take our 4.55m Polycraft as a bluewater fly casting vessel and a transfer boat to get you to and from the sand cays.
